"Designed for entertaining, it features an open-concept layout that creates free-flowing, integrated spaces indoors and out. So everyone stays connected and engaged in the conversation, and the good times keep rolling." Thus describes the brand new 41 Cantius from this mid-west manufacturer, the second of two Cantius models in its line-up of eleven models of express-type and motoryachts ranging from thirty-one to fifty-eight feet. The other Cantius model is the 48.
Let's explore the "open-concept" that Cruisers extols for both of its Cantius models. From the massive extended swim platform with its unique transom bar with storage and two standard bar stools it's one small step up to the fibreglass self-draining cockpit. An L-shaped lounge fills the portside and across the transom of the cockpit providing seating for at least six and a double pedestal table makes entertaining a breeze. A starboard side grill with storage is also available. The transom bar with barstools opens up a whole new concept for relaxed entertaining outdoors on those warm summer nights.
Enter the fully enclosed bright, contemporary, integrated upper salon through a "tri-slide" extra wide glass door. Here you'll find a raised portside U-shaped dinette/lounge with double table affording a 360-degree view of your surroundings. Keep the tri-slide cockpit door open, open the power forward vent windows, plus the sliding sunroof in the hardtop and you will feel at one with the outside world. Close them all in inclement weather and turn on the reverse cycle heat/air conditioning and you can create the atmosphere you prefer, day or night. This salon area also features a double-wide helm seat, a standard pivoting 22" flatscreen above the huge countertop, sink, storage, and optional combination fridge/ice maker. Headroom in this upper salon is a generous 6'3".
Down below to portside is a very modern looking all-electric galley with natural lighting from overhead and a large hullside portlight. The solid surface countertop is in two levels, the slightly higher level to accommodate a larger under-counter, stainless steel-fronted combination refrigerator / ice maker. The lower level of the countertop houses the sink with storage below. Also included in the galley is a decent sized and powerful 220-Volt combination microwave / convection oven plus a two-burner electric stove. Easy maintenance amtico flooring is standard. To supply the electricity for these appliances, Cruisers Yachts provides a standard Kohler® gas or diesel generator with sound shield. At dockside, you can plug in a 120 or 220 volt 50-amp shorepower cord, 50-feet long with power retractor.
The forward master stateroom is accessed via a solid bulkhead with door. Inside is a full queen island berth with standard therapeutic mattress, duvet and pillow shams and 6'9" of headroom! Upper level storage is provided along with the normal under-berth storage plus a cedar-lined clothes closet. The master head along the starboard side features natural overhead and hullside portlight lighting, a full-width upper level mirrored vanity cupboard, plus a vanity with ultra-modern sink, faucet and storage below. A separate shower stall with sit-down capabilities is standard. The toilet is centrifuge electric with holding tank.
The mid-stateroom offers two single berths with a removable centre filler cushion to create a queen-size bed if desired. The second head in this area offers a combination shower with electric toilet in one section and a separate vanity area with stylish sink and faucet plus upper and lower storage.
Multiple power choices are offered for the 41 Cantius including gas or diesel, IPS or sterndrive. Standard are twin Volvo Penta 330 hp IPS 450 Drive D6 diesels with EVC (Electronic Vessel Control) including Joystick. Option up to the twin 370 hp IPS 500 Drive D6 diesels, or if you so choose, twin Volvo Penta 400 hp IPS 550G Drive gasoline propulsion. You could even opt for twin 370 hp D6 Duo-Prop diesel sterndrives with Joystick control. Whichever you choose, steering and engine controls are fly-by-wire and full digital instrumentation and diagnostics come with it.
At the time of this review, optional equipment specifications had not been available from Cruisers Yachts but suffice it to say, the 41 Cantius is a very complete boat as presented. You could be the first on your waterway to have one of these very bright, open, and entertaining boats.
