2010 Campion 705i Allante Bowrider

Reviewed by Richard Crowder

Campion 705i Allante Bowrider

Campion Marine of Kelowna, BC, now in its thirty-sixth year of building fibreglass boats, and today Canada’s largest such builder with thirty-seven models from sixteen to thirty feet in four series, is represented worldwide in more than thirty countries.

This forward-thinking company has just announced, that for 2010, Campion will become the first boat builder in the world to manufacture all of its boats with Envirez®, a renewably-sourced bio-derived resin, the first such resin that uses a substantial amount of soybean oil and corn-derived ethanol in its formulation. Resin is the “glue” so-to-speak that holds the fibreglass cloth together as it cures. Campion has been rigorously testing the new resin process for over two years on selected models. Campion says the move to this new resin will eliminate over 100,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.

The almost twenty-four foot centerline length 705i Allante is a roomy, family bowrider with an added bonus. Campion has been able to retain a sizable cockpit while adding a small enclosed “cuddy cabin” section between the windshield and the bowrider portion of the boat. This “cuddy” is perfect as a change room, for catching a few “Z’s,” has lockable entry doors on both sides, an overhead opening hatch with screen, designer accent pillow package, and a porta-potti with pumpout.

With all-composite construction including the use of expensive Kevlar® laminate reinforcement in certain areas, Campion of course provides for a full fibreglass hull liner and cockpit. Stern seating is wraparound U-shaped with storage under and the driver and passenger luxuriate in Razor ultra suspension bucket seats with flip-up bolsters. A wet bar with sink along with a Clarion AM/FM/CD stereo with six speakers, stereo remote, Sirius satellite receiver, MP3 input, and stacker-ready is all standard along with a Sunbrella acrylic bimini top and most covering canvas. Full instrumentation plus hourmeter, depth sounder, transom tilt switch, windshield wiper, and tilt steering are all standard.

Notable options from a comprehensive available listing include a full galley package, shorepower, stereo upgrade, cabin heat, wakeboard tower with storage racks, and an extended swim platform with ladder.
