2010 Crestliner 2185 Escape Pontoon Boat

Reviewed by Richard Crowder

Crestlinre 2185 Escape Pontoon

Crestliner has added this new Escape series of two models in four configurations to its pontoon line-up for 2010 bringing its total number of models to twenty-five (with multiple configurations) in four series of outboard and sterndrive-powered, two and tritoon versions, from over seventeen to over twenty-seven feet in length.

The Escape series is available in 2185 and 2385 model lengths, in “Cruise” or “Angler” configurations, and with standard 23” or optional 27” diameter tubes. Crestliner dubs this newest series of pontoon boats as “fun and affordable.”

Construction-wise, Crestliner provides full-length keels on its pontoons and extruded cross members with spray deflectors along with “Dock-Guard” gunnel bumpers. Its “Tech II outboard Motor Pod” is said to be the most hydrodynamic pod in the industry being sleeker, longer, and stronger with less drag and with built-in deflectors to move water spray down. All furniture bases are formed from nearly indestructible RotoCast while the driver’s console is of fibreglass-reinforced acrylic. Marine grade carpet is standard on the deck – vinyl covering is optional.

In the bow are facing lounges with under-seat storage and built-in drinkholders. The portside lounge is a three-seater while the larger starboard-side L-shaped lounge in front of the helm features tapered end cushions to allow forward-facing reclining. An inflatable filler cushion is optional. The sport bucket captain’s seat in front of the sport steering wheel is mounted on a slider and is well cushioned. A tilt wheel and hydraulic steering is optional. Standard is a 12-volt power outlet along with a Jensen AM/FM, iPod jack, Sirius-capable stereo. A Sony stereo with CD player is optional.

Opposite the helm is an even larger L-shaped lounge complete with a table with built-in drinkholders. Aft of this lounge seat is the standard aft sundeck with built-in, pop-up change room. A permanent, stern mounted boarding ladder provides quick and safe access to the water while the three wheelchair-accessible entry gates to the boat provide easy land access.

A bimini top with quick-connect stainless steel hardware is standard while a playpen cover is optional. Another handy option is the stainless steel gas grill.
