2010 Formula 270BR

Reviewed by Richard Crowder

Formula 270BR

Formula’s 270BR (Bowrider) is one of seven models in its popular Sun Sport lineup ranging from 24 to 35 feet. The Sun Sport is one of five model series ranging from high performance through cruisers to yachts up to 45 feet from this highly respected family-owned and operated Decatur, Indiana company.

Formula’s renowned quality and attention to detail is evident throughout the 270BR. As a family day boat or watersport fun boat, the 270BR excels. Flexible seating from two to ten is provided by a huge transom/portside L-shaped lounge, a facing starboard-side two-seater lounge, two swivel helm/passenger bucket seats, plus two bow lounges with backrests and fold-down armrests.

A rear-facing double-wide transom seat converts to a full lay-down sunlounge and optional filler cushions convert the bow area to another lounge. A standard cockpit table can also be mounted in the bow. A standard head compartment is to portside ahead of the passenger helm and can be optionally upgraded with sink and porcelain head. Finished storage abounds under all seating, in the cockpit sole, and in front of the driver’s helm.

Personalize the 270BR to your own taste and choice of water activities with several available options. To the standard Kenwood high output AM/FM/CD stereo with both dash and transom-mounted remote controls can be added a 200W cockpit subwoofer. A starboard-side cockpit wetbar can replace the two-seater lounge. If serious skiing and wakeboarding is part of your on-water fun, you can upgrade to a pylon, a stainless steel sport arch, or even a Samson Sports Razor wakeboard tower in basic or super fancy!

The optional Mercury SmartCraft instrumentation is highly recommended to augment the highly professional (and rarely seen in a family boat) Livorsi standard instrumentation. Choose the Mercury DTS (Digital Throttle and Shift) control system with SmartTow while you’re at it. And for our Canadian conditions, select the colour coordinated full bimini top, front, side, and aft curtains along with cockpit carpeting. Bow tonneau and cockpit covers are standard equipment.
