2010 Lund 1625 Rebel XL SS

Reviewed by Richard Crowder

Lund 1625 Rebel XL SS

Over sixty years ago, company founder G. Howard Lund built the first, of what has become one of the most respected brands of aluminum fishing boats. The 1625 Rebel XL SS is one of, count ‘em, seventy models of Lund boats for 2010 in six series from ten to almost twenty-two feet.

Construction-wise, Lund incorporates a heavy-duty transom bolted directly to rigid, longitudinal I-beams, knee-braced for strength and stability, plus transverse beams, and longitudinal supports the length of the deck all the way up under the bow. Marine-grade 5052 H34 aluminum, .080” thickness in the bottom, .063” in the sides of the Rebel, has double riveted seams and aluminum corner castings.

The hull utilizes Lund’s exclusive IPS™ (Integrated Power Strake™) design built around a soft pad with an aggressive reverse chine which delivers a solid flow of water to the propeller, reducing draft, giving serious lift keeping the boat on plane, and reducing spray. Foam flotation is injected into the hull cavities helping to quiet the ride. The Rebel’s SportTrak™ accessories management system of tracks running down the inside of the gunwales allow rod holders, cup holders, depthfinders, etc. to be located where you want them.

The 1625 Rebel XL SS has seven storage compartments, some of which are lockable: one under the bow deck, two in the bow casting deck, one on each side of the cockpit, including lockable 7-foot rod storage, and two in the aft casting platform. A twenty-gallon, 50” long livewell is located at the rear of the bow casting platform next to a separate baitwell.

Two seats are standard in the Rebel with six bases on which to mount them. Additional pedestal seats, ProRide seats, bike seat, and AirRide pedestals are optional as is a bow cushion. The side console with tinted windscreen and chrome gauges includes Mercury pre-rigging. Battery storage compartments are included with two battery holders and a 12-volt trolling motor plug-in. A Shoreland’r trailer is standard.

Other optional equipment includes a bimini top, mooring cover, port console with windshield, and an onboard 2 or 3-bank battery charger.
