2010 SeaRay 450 Sundancer

Reviewed by Richard Crowder

SeaRay 450 Sundancer

The brand new for 2010 450 Sundancer is one of five Sundancer models and three Sedan Bridges in SeaRay’s Sport Yachts series from thirty-nine to fifty-one feet. SeaRay produces a host of other models, one to suit almost any boating requirement, from seventeen to thirty foot Sport Boats, to Sport Cruisers from twenty-four to thirty-seven feet, and Yachts from fifty-two to sixty-one feet.

The very extensive list of standard features on the 450 Sundancer simply cannot be done justice in this short preview, but here are just some of the more outstanding ones that allow this model to stand apart from the others.

Most notable on this new model is the standard fibreglass hardtop complete with a retractable sunroof, overhead dimmable lighting and an aft curtain to fully enclose the cockpit. Cockpit seating is a SeaRay design priority and the 450 excels. Four adults can comfortably sit facing forward on the two double-wide helm seats each with flip-up bolsters and armrests and the driver’s side with a fore-aft slide and pneumatic vertical adjustment. A huge U-shaped portside cockpit lounge faces a U-shaped wet-bar. The backs of the transom section of this lounge hinge outward to become part of the aft “sun gate” sun pad over the swim platform.

Four choices of interior wood finishes are available in the very open and spacious cabin that SeaRay calls “free-flowing.” A total of six fixed plus two opening stainless steel-framed portlights plus two fixed windows plus a skylight add natural light and ventilation. The mid-cabin is deemed a “designated media room” with a standard 32” flatscreen (37” optional) with gaming system port, MP3 port, and DVD player opposite an Ultraleather™ “conversation pit” convertible lounge. The forward stateroom features a full-size island-style bed. The portside forward shower compartment is separate from the starboard-side head compartment.

Generator, air conditioning/heating, SmartCraft® Diagnostics instrumentation and VesselView display, MerCruiser® DTS (Digital Throttle & Shift), Axius® joystick control, autopilot, and anchor windlass are all standard. Choose from an additional host of comfort upgrade options, navigation electronics, and as your propulsion, MerCruiser diesel sterndrives or Zeus® pod drives.
