Reviewed by Richard Crowder

With its wide 8-foot beam carrying right through to the transom and with an overall depth of 38-inches, the Smokercraft 182 Pro Mag is targeted at serious big, deep water, Great Lakes-style fishing adventures.
As part of Smokercraft’s thirty-six model line-up of Jon, Utility, Bass, Bay, and all-purpose aluminum fishing boats, the 182 Pro Mag is one of its largest offerings and bristles with all of the necessary features demanded by serious fishermen.
Construction-wise, the 182 Pro Mag runs on Smokercraft’s Hydra-Lift Rolled, .125 gauge, one piece bottom with double-riveted seams, V-hull with integrated spray rail, strengthened with .125 gauge “Airs” integrated hand-formed, hat-shaped ribs on ten-inch centers complete with five bottom keels for added stability and handling. Hull voids up to the specially treated XL plywood floor (with a lifetime warranty) are injected with urethane foam to quiet the ride and provide buoyancy. Hull side gauge is .080. The standard black hull colour is twice baked urethane paint. Extra-wide full length gunwales are reinforced for mounting downriggers and accessories.
Six seat mounting bases are provided to accommodate the three standard bass seats with two movable pedestals plus the movable helm pedestal with slider base. The 182 Pro Mag’s driver’s console is all business with its standard hydraulic, tilt steering, circuit breakers, and full instrumentation including tachometer, speedometer, volt meter, fuel gauge, and lighted compass. The walk-thru windshield is a Clean Curve® by Taylor Made Systems®. The vinyl flooring can be optionally fitted with snap-in carpet. A lockable glove box is in the passenger console.
A large center bow storage box will hold as many as eight rods. Additional rod storage is found along the port side plus general storage along the starboard side. More general storage compartments are in the bow, the stern, and in the console. Three battery compartments are provided.
A large, dual-circulation 26-gallon aerated livewell is centrally located at the stern and another 18-gallon aerated livewell is positioned in the bow. A trolling motor plug is also provided. An AM/FM/ stereo with auxiliary MP3 port is optional as is all canvas.
