Legend 18 Extreme running

From Legend Boats, headquartered in Whitefish, Ontario (near Sudbury) comes this 18 Xtreme full windshield (dual console) model for 2015, part of Legend’s family of six models in its All-Weather Fisherman series ranging from fifteen to twenty feet.

For 2015, Legend also offers seven models of utility boats from twelve to sixteen feet in three series; seven models of side-consoles from fifteen to twenty feet in five series; a total of ten models of full-windshield models from fifteen to twenty feet in five series; plus eighteen models of pontoon boats from seventeen to twenty-six feet in five series. If you’re counting, that’s a total of forty-two models of aluminum boats – some riveted, some welded and all packaged with Mercury® outboard motors.

The 18 Xtreme is not a new model for 2015 but what it has that’s new for this year is Legend’s EZ-Clean Dura-Deck vinyl interior flooring covering all horizontal surfaces including the cockpit plus both bow and stern casting decks. It rides on Legend’s all-welded hull constructed with .100 gauge aluminum utilizing a two-piece hull with no side seams and locked into a solid centre and bow extrusion which is over one-inch thick.

Injected foam within the hull for strength and sound insulation provides the 18 Xtreme with level floatation properties. A high-gloss oven-cured urethane paint finishes the exterior of the hull and 3M reflective striping is applied not only for daytime graphic appeal but for added night time safety. A Leakproof for Life Warranty comes with this boat.

Two composite removable premium contour swivel fishing chairs come standard along with six floor mounting locations – four in the cockpit and one each on the bow and stern casting decks. Somewhat unique to the 18 Xtreme is its stern, full-width folding bench seat which Legend calls its EZ-Flip Extenda-Deck Converta-Bench. In essence, fold down the well-padded backrest of this bench seat and then flip the entire seat down and forward and the seat’s underside becomes part of the rear casting deck and provides access to a centred floor mount for one of the fishing chairs.

Within this now-revealed stern casting deck on the port side is a 12-gallon aerated livewell with threaded Sure-Lock stand pipe with overflow protection. On the starboard side is a built-in storage compartment with hinged lid. Centred below is the battery compartment. Still at the stern, a starboard side transom swim platform with folding boarding ladder is standard equipment.

Lockable storage compartments for rods up to 7-feet are found beneath both port and starboard side gunnels. Additional lockable storage with tube holders for up to six rods is found in-floor between the helm and passenger seats. An additional covered storage compartment is located within the bow casting platform immediately beneath the centre opening section of the tall, curved walk-thru windshield.

Centred just forward of this storage compartment is a second huge 30-gallon aerated bow livewell complete with integrated bait bucket. The bow trolling motor platform comes standard with a MotorGuide W55, 54-inch wireless trolling motor complete with a MotorGuide handheld wireless remote. The bow panel features an outboard trim switch and a 12/24 volt plug. Within the bow area on both sides ahead of the windshield are standard contoured backrests with integrated cupholders. Add the optional bow cushions and lounging up front becomes comfortable.

The molded driver’s helm features a “Deluxe Full-Vu console with woodgrain dash” with integrated drink holder and chrome-bezeled instrumentation including speedometer, tachometer, voltmeter, and fuel gauge behind a standard tilting steering wheel. Also standard is a driver’s seat slider, interior LED ambient lighting plus courtesy lights, a 12-volt power outlet, AM/FM stereo with MP3 port and two speakers, plus a Humminbird Piranha MAX 175 fish/depth finder. The molded passenger console comes with a glove box and drink holder.

Other notable standard equipment on the 18 Xtreme is a full stand-up foul weather top with complete curtain set, two rod holders, and a Custom-Matched Glide-On trailer by Shoreland’r featuring a swing-tongue, jack, dolly, and tie-downs. Standard power is a Mercury® 50 ELPT 4-stroke outboard which Legend estimates will produce a top speed of just under 30 mph. The boat is rated for up to 150 horsepower so, depending on the type of boating you wish to do, there are lots of larger Mercury® outboards from which to choose.

Legend has a complete catalogue of accessories available to allow you to not only personalize your 18 Xtreme to your heart’s content, but also to completely outfit it with all your necessary safety and mooring gear. Choose from a variety of trailer accessories, several seating options, electric motor accessories, electronics, custom colour kits, etc.

As Legend describes its 18 Xtreme, “Business in the front, Party in the back.”
