R242-Run-02-17

Celebrating fifty years of boatbuilding this year, Robalo is offering a total of eighteen models of Center Consoles, Cayman Bay boats, Dual Consoles, plus one Express Walkaround ranging from sixteen to thirty feet. The R242 is the second largest in the six model Center Console series and one of the newest.

It rides on Robalo’s Hydro Lift™ Multi Angle very deep-V hull design with full fibreglass structural system, poured composite transom coring, and Kevlar reinforced hull. Let there be no doubt it is designed for serious fishing but nevertheless features a large complement of family-friendly both standard and available optional equipment.

At twenty-four feet length overall, the R242 has a wider then normal beam at eight feet, nine inches thus creating considerable additional interior space. Because of this, it has a generous maximum horsepower rating of 400. To this end, Robalo offers single Yamaha 250 or 300 outboard power or twin Yamaha 150 or 200 horsepower outboards.

Seating is accommodated at the helm with a large, double-wide, well padded and upholstered leaning post complete with a fixed backrest plus individual forward flip-up bolsters. Beneath this leaning post is a standard 72-quart portable cooler and five rod holders are mounted on the back.

The bow is the most versatile area of the R242. Full U-shaped seating is provided with standard removable cushions plus a removable fibreglass shelf with filler cushion to convert the bow area into a huge relaxing sun lounge. Remove the cushions and this becomes one large bow casting platform. Wide coaming bolster padding surrounds not only the bow area but virtually the entire inner cockpit.

Within the U-shaped seating are port and starboard 30-gallon fishboxes or storage areas with overboard drains. Beneath the forward section is a 20-gallon bow livewell with LED lighting and directional aerated head with adjustable flow valve. A bow in-floor storage compartment is also provided. On the foredeck is an anchor locker with polished stainless steel bow roller.

A starboard side transom door leads to the molded swim platform complete with a three step telescoping boarding ladder with handle. The entire centre section of the inner transom is hinged to allow excellent access to mechanicals below. This hinged section may also be optionally outfitted as a fold-away stern bench seat.

On the top of the transom is a port side 20-gallon livewell equipped identically to the bow livewell plus a 27-gallon fishbox (or storage) with overboard drain. Of course, the entire cockpit is self-draining. Raw water washdown and a cockpit fresh water shower are both standard as is blue LED cockpit courtesy lighting. Stainless steel toerails line the aft cockpit above which are three horizontal tubed rod storage holders on each side of the cockpit.

The molded centre console has an aluminum-framed glass windshield with stainless steel grab rail. The lower tier of the dash features standard SeaStar® hydraulic steering with a tilt stainless steel steering wheel with control knob. The large upper tier of the dash is ready for your choice of one or two side-by-side large flush-mount screens. Robalo offers Garmin plotters with or without radar plus sonar. Yamaha digital gauges are standard. Command Link® gauges are optionally available.

The front of the console features a forward facing single seat with bolstered backrest mounted on a side hinged door opening to a substantial fibreglass lined change/head compartment complete with a standard Porta Pottie with pumpout and screened opening portlight. An electric toilet is optionally available.

Additional standard equipment includes recessed trim tabs with indicators, stainless steel grab rails, drinkholders, and in-gunnel rod holders, dual batteries, battery charger, plus an AM/FM/WB premium stereo with Bluetooth compatibility, auxiliary jacks, Sirius satellite radio and four speakers.

Notable optional equipment includes your choice of six hull side, hull bottom, or solid hull colour choices, bimini top with boot or more likely, the fibreglass T-Top complete with LED spreader lights, an electronics box and your choice of anodized aluminum or powder coated frame. GEMLUX® Deluxe carbon fiber or Taco “Grandslam” outriggers are available. Other options include blue LED underwater lights, anchor windlass, ski tow pylon, pull-up cleats, and an aluminum tandem-axle trailer.

“At Robalo, building world class fishing boats is a passion and a way of life.” The R242 certainly exemplifies this passion and includes with it a flair for the family recreational boating lifestyle.
