“Get outta here! That’s a Sylvan?!” The words screamed from my mouth as we came around the corner of our secret test lake in Indiana and I first laid eyes on her. Never before had I seen a Sylvan such as this. Laying at the dock, her lines screamed sexy and the blend of cutting edge styling cues along the fence rails and interior said come and play. I couldn’t get to the dock fast enough.

The M5 is simply like no Sylvan boat I’ve ever seen. The R & D team at the factory didn’t pull any punches or leave any stone unturned on this incredible craft. Innovation was everywhere, craftsmanship was, in a word, exceptional and the meticulous engineering details were evident everywhere I looked.

The M5 features Sylvans’ SPX PR25 Performance Package giving you the benefits of leading edge lifting strakes design in her 3 tube combination. All three tubes are 25” diameter and our test boat tubes were painted black which took her styling to yet another level.

I jumped into the boat from the center stern gate and was immediately impressed by the strength of even the gate itself. The layout of this dual console presented a sense of the perfect combination of security and space for lots of friends. As I melted into the incredibly soft feeling vinyl helm seat on her raised platform, the helm station itself blew me away. With LED lighted – everything – the electrical team at Sylvan was clearly given free rein on this part of the design and results of their efforts are incredible. The tower is a great design for water sports enthusiasts and even the inside of the tower features a lighting package like I’ve never seen before. And if you love sound like I do…wait until you hear the kicked up Kicker system and the effects of the perfectly positioned sub-woofer.

At 26’ 10” she’s a big boat and with 300 Yamaha HP outboard on the back, there wasn’t a doubt she’d perform. Once I was in open water I anxiously opened her up and she didn’t disappoint. I quickly realized that the combination loved lots of trim and I quickly found my way to an inspiringly pleasing 39 MPH – keep in mind that she’s darn near 27’ long!

Sylvan says this boat is not for the fainthearted and they are spot on. If you’re looking for your next boat and you bring a desire to be creative and a passion to customize her your own way then this could very well be the perfect marriage for you. She took my breath away when I first saw her, imagine what she’ll do for you when she’s at your dock.
