The hull of the Neptunus 650 was developed by Tony Castro from Southampton, UK and is a well proven 19.5 °deep vee design for soft and comfortable sea keeping characteristics. All new exterior styling was penned by Gregory C. Marshall from Victoria, BC, and fills the big brother role to the entry level Neptunus 550 Express model. The interior design elements are conceived by Lex Parker of St. Catharines, Ontario and provide a modern interpretation of the quality craftsmanship that Neptunus Yachts is known for. The design was executed to the highest standards for pleasure craft vessels, completely in house by the team at Neptunus Yachts. The result is a beautifully timeless design that is sure to impress in both form and function.
Many features offered in the new Neptunus 650 are those more commonly found in much larger express motor yachts, such as a galley and dining area on the main deck level along with a large salon that provides generous seating. Below deck, the cabin arrangement includes a full beam master with oversized portlights and his & hers ensuite that share a centrally located shower both massive in size and spa-like in character. A two or three cabin layout is available as standard, with special customization available upon request.
The interior is finished with the finest horizontal grain cherry wood and solid hardwood trim. All are finished in a satin topcoat with various high gloss accents that enhance depth and character. Unique lighting details and exquisite granite with custom nosing that matches the solid wood trim are carefully placed throughout the vessel with great attention to detail.
On deck, a well-executed cockpit boasts a large compound sliding salon door that opens to create an outside extension of the salon and even more space to entertain. The cockpit table is a wonderful centerpiece on which to enjoy chef’s creations from the built-in BBQ grille and/or fully equipped galley. You are free to relax in the shade provided by an overhead motorized awning, or bask in the sun comfortably on the foredeck sun pad. Oversized deck hardware can be found from bow to stern and are as stunning to look at as they are functional to operate.
When it is time to push off to the next destination, cockpit controls provide superior visibility and confidence while docking. Careful planning of deck hardware and storage space makes line and fender handling an easy chore. Underway, a large and ergonomic helm keeps navigation electronics and control gear within arms’ reach. The helm configuration is customizable during construction to ensure the most intimate connection between helm and helmsman.
The stand-up engine room is accessed via a flush mounted gullwing transom door, which leads to a crew cabin complete with ensuite head/shower and another water tight door. Alternatively, the engine room can be accessed directly through a large opening floor hatch in the cockpit. Once there, the thoughtful engineering of equipment layout that is characteristic of Neptunus Yachts can be appreciated. All mechanicals and service points are laid out to be easily identified and accessible, and are presented in an orderly fashion to ensure general maintenance can be completed as efficiently and effectively as possible. The serviceability of a Neptunus Yacht is well conceived and typically only found in vessels twice the size.
Propulsion for the new Neptunus 650 is exclusively provided by CAT, with twin C-18 ACERT engines @ 1000 HP each as standard equipment. An optional 1136 HP power rating for the C-18 ACERT, increasing speed another 1.5 knots from the standard 26 knot cruise and 31.5 knot top speed respectively. Considerable attention is paid to the reduction of noise and vibration in order to provide the most comfortable and quiet operation possible. Three inch multi-layer insulation panels are combined with various sound and vibration absorbing materials throughout the vessel to minimize unwanted sound when underway. Further, both generator and A/C systems exhaust/discharge underwater, resulting in a vessel that operates at noise levels nearly impossible to hear when at anchor or moored.
As with all current models produced by Neptunus Yachts, the new Neptunus 650 is built and certified to NMMA/ABYC as well as the demanding European CE category A standard.
