As only 3rd owners, after an 11 year love affair with our S2, 36’ Centre Cockpit, she is being offered to her next captain and crew. If you are looking for a Centre Cockpit this is one to be sure to consider. If you have never thought about one, then this is also something you should consider. This sturdy, well built, well-loved and maintained 36’ boat has more space than many 40’ boats, which we discovered when we were searching for this boat. Features like a queen-sized aft cabin bed with two hanging lockers, two cubbies and shelves for plenty of storage. Entry to aft from head and galley with two closing doors for privacy. Large V berth with open shelving on each side and storage underneath. A long and roomy head with several cupboards and a hanging locker. The galley brags three insulated coolers. Two cooled with refrigeration. One that we use for dry goods but can also be cooled with ice. The galley has enough storage for food, dishes and cookware that extended cruising is totally possible. In addition to several cupboards there are 3 small drawers, 3 large drawers under cockpit and under stove cubbies and another hanging locker. Two long settees in the salon for comfortable lounging. Cubbies behind the back cushions and each settee has two very roomy lockers under the seats The traditional S2 dining table has been replaced with a custom designed table made of mahogany that stores on the ceiling and is an easy drop down when needed, giving a lot more salon room that in the original design. Seats up to six. Also custom designed, is a shelf and cupboard under the nav station for storing shoes and water, canned goods or whatever needs a hideaway storage.
As you can see by the photos the teak both inside and out is in like new condition. The teak and holly floors were sanded and refinished in 2011. The inside teak is cleaned and re oiled every third year. The teak rails on the deck were stripped and sanded down to the bare wood in 2020 and several coats of cetol applied. Cetol applied again in 2021. There is no comparison to the very few S2’s currently available.
On deck the cockpit is large and spacious and comfortable whether just two or with several others. The space in the cockpit is enhanced by a folding wheel. The cockpit table is also a custom design and built with fold out leaves. It is longer than the traditional S2 table or even other after-market tables. The front and rear deck space allows for relaxing on small chairs or porta seats while under way or to just enjoy the sun. This boat has so much to offer that one cannot appreciate without seeing her first-hand.
She does not need much wind to make her move, even with the weight of 18,000 lbs. A beamy 11.9’ wide, fin keel design, and 4.5’ draft this boat can fit just about anywhere. Even at a 10 knot wind she can get speeds of 5 – 6 knots with just the foresail. But she loves the wind. The main sail goes up fast with the after market mainsail track and flakes beautifully into the stack pack making getting the main up and down a breeze. The foresail is a 150% and moves her along at a fast clip. We find that we do sail with just the foresail more often than not because even with a light wind we can cruise along at an average of 5.5 – 6 knots. She motors at about 2200 RPM and runs at a comfortable 5 – 6 knots at that RPM. We have reached her hull speed of just over seven on many occasions. The electronics include a Garmin chart plotter with depth and speed, Raymarine auto pilot, refurnished Ritchie compass.
We purchased this boat in Rock Hall MD , where she saw only brackish water and never salt water and had her trucked home. We have loved and taken exceptional care of this boat since 2010. We are sad to be letting her go but it is time for us to move on.
This boat was surveyed on the hard in June 2021, while on the hard and the surveyor’s comments were that ‘he had never seen a boat of this age in such pristine condition’.
Images did not load in preferred order but they do give an overall look at her. This boat is turn key and ready to go.
