Two Cabins * Enclosed Command bridge * New Generator * Recent Survey * Reduced Price
Chris-Craft's Catalina 35 was one of the most popular double-cabin cruisers of the era. The solid fiberglass build quality of the day means many of these vintage boats continue to be in good serviceable condition long after more recent makes and models have come and gone. Boats with solid fiberglass hulls such as these are excellent candidates for major mechanical refits simply because they stand the test of time so well.
This freshwater 1974 model has been kept in a covered slip and shows the results of many years of proud ownership. The interior layout offers three single berths forward and a double berth aft. A sleeper sofa in the salon stretches sleeping accommodations further in a pinch. A well-equipped galley with full-size fridge occupies the starboard side of the salon, which is surprisingly spacious and bright with large opening side windows.
Above decks, an oversized canvas-enclosed command bridge with helm located forward, leaves plenty space for passengers to socialize. A large foredeck bench seat provides a comfortable place to enjoy the ride, or simply catch some sun while at anchor.
Access to the engine compartment from the salon is very good. The Chris-Craft Marine engines are original equipment, and have seen regular use since the boat was acquired by the current owner in 1989. The owner reports the engines were overhauled in 1987. The generator was replaced with a brand new Westerbeke EFI model in 2022 at a cost of $18,000. Her covered slip on Georgian Bay in Victoria Harbour, ON, is paid-up through April, 2025, and may be transferable to a new owner, subject to marina confirmation. An in-water spring 2024 survey reported "no structural, mechanical or electrical issues that require immediate attention", and suggested a current retail value of $45,000 CAD.
Overall, this Catalina 35 Double Cabin is a well-maintained vessel with an impressive Chris-Craft pedigree. We have no doubt she has many years of comfortable cruising and/or live-aboard use ahead of her.
