Boston Whaler 270 Vantage Running

At twenty-eight feet, three inches length overall on a nine foot beam, Boston Whaler’s 270 Vantage dual-console (bowrider) is the mid-size of three such dual-console models in the line-up for 2015 – the other two being the 230 and the new for 2015 320 Vantage. Dual-consoles are becoming ever more popular with Canadian boaters and the versatility and available amenities provided with this design are well illustrated in this particular Boston Whaler offering.

Of course, Boston Whaler has a huge reputation starting with its Unsinkable Legend in 1958 to where, in 2015, it offers a total of thirty-one models from eleven to over forty-two feet in eight series including Tender, Sport, Super Sport, Montauk, Dauntless, and Outrage center and side console models plus the Conquest series of walkaround cabin models along with this dual-console Vantage series.

Whatever your favourite waterborne activities, be that fishing, entertaining, cruising, watersports or perhaps simply basic transportation needs to and from an island getaway, the 270 Vantage can be outfitted to cater to any one or several of those activities.

The 270’s twelve person capacity rating is accommodated in three distinct areas. The large bow seating area comprises about one-third of the 270’s overall length and consists of port and starboard lounge seats with padded backrests on the front side of each of the helm consoles plus padded coaming bolsters all around. At the very bow is a package tray with drink holders, recessed storage and a cupholder compartment which doubles as a step up to the foredeck dedicated bow anchor locker. A bow walkthrough block off panel keeps wind away from the cockpit.

Helm seating includes a deluxe custom Boston Whaler helm seat with high/low pedestal, armrests, and footrest. Opposite on the passenger side is a double-wide port lounge seat with forward or rearward seating, a footrest, and with a backrest which folds flat for full-out lounging supplemented by a padded cushion on the front of the door of the passenger console head compartment. Padded side bolsters line the cockpit coaming. Finally, a fold-out stern seat with backrest completes the seating possibilities.

The aforementioned head compartment includes a portable head with pumpout, Corain countertop, sink with faucet, sky light, and storage locker. Other notable storage is located under the bow seating, within the helm console, under-gunnel storage shelves plus a lockable in-floor locker suitable for fishing rods and/or waterskis/wakeboards. A cockpit utility center is standard equipment and includes a sink with pull-out sprayer, cutting board, and a 50-quart YETI® cooler.

Other notable standard equipment includes dual colour (blue/white) cockpit courtesy lighting, extended integral swim platforms on both sides of the transom complete with a recessed, telescoping boarding ladder, walk-thru transom with door, stainless steel rod holders, tilt steering with stainless wheel with urethane grip, articulated starboard windshield wiper, recessed electric trim tabs with indicators, bow and stern fresh water sprayers plus the Mercury SmartCraft deluxe gauge package.

Regardless of your boating preferences, you may wish to choose the optional anchor windlass, battery charging system, Fusion® stereo with or without Sirius® satellite receiver, underwater lights, VacuFlush® toilet, various canvas options, autopilot, several Raymarine® electronics/navigation packages, plus perhaps a tandem axle aluminum trailer.

Fishing enthusiasts may want to add the fishing package which includes a raw water washdown, 19-gallon livewell with light, plus three transom-mounted rod holders. If cruising or entertaining are high priorities, choose the bow filler cushion, bow table with dedicated storage, plus the summer kitchen package which includes a cockpit refrigerator, electric grill, 1500 watt inverter, shore power and more. Watersports enthusiasts may want the air compressor system, bow beach boarding ladder, ski pylon, and either the welded aluminum watersports tower or the fibreglass hardtop complete with the tower. To this tower can be added wakeboard racks and speakers.

Twin Mercury Verado FourStroke engines of 225, 250, or 300 horsepower are your choices of power for your 270 Vantage along with various accessories to enhance your boating enjoyment including available Joystick Piloting, electronic steering, Skyhook/autopilot keypad functionality on the twin 300’s.

Versatility and functionality – cornerstones of the Boston Whaler 270 Vantage dual-console.
