For 2018, Scarab® offers twelve jet-powered models from sixteen to twenty-five feet. The Open series in nineteen and twenty-five feet are center console designs available in two “trim” levels; the lower priced G and the more upscale ID which offers you so many choices to personalize it to your exact liking. Both are new for 2018.

The 255 Open is not your traditional center console boat. First of all, it is powered by standard twin Rotax® 4-TEC 150 jet engines producing a total of 300 horsepower and may be optionally upgraded to twin 200 or twin 250 horsepower Rotax® jets. Next, it is rated to carry thirteen persons and offers seating accommodation for all thirteen. Next it has a drop-down transom to enhance your watersports accessibility and fun. Next it is loaded with cruising and relaxing and watersports accessories to suit most family pleasure boating activities.

The huge open bow, with the optional Bow Seating Package, features port and starboard forward-facing full stretch out lounging for two with backrests or facing seating with padded coaming backrests for at least three on each side plus a bow filler cushion to seat one more facing aft. Beneath each of these side lounges is storage. A bow table is available.

Beneath the bow seat is a built-in insulated cooler compartment and a portable carry-on cooler is available. Step up onto the bow platform to a covered telescoping bow boarding ladder and anchor locker. The fibreglass cockpit liner is skid resistant and self draining. A bow area in-floor storage compartment is ideal for watersports accessories.

On the forward side of the centre console is a comfortable single or cozy double-wide bench seat. Lift this forward face of the console up to reveal a molded fibreglass change room to which may be optionally added a Porta Potti. At the helm is a triple-wide seat with outboard built-in armrests and with the seat bottom of the centre driver’s seat hinged to flip down to permit standing at the helm.

A most flexible in design rear bench seat features four removable backrests to allow easy access to the transom. This may be optionally upgraded to become a sunlounge or depending how the backrests are inserted into their mounts, allows any combination of forward or aft facing seating for four persons.

Yes there is a normal molded-in swim platform complete with a telescoping boarding ladder on the 255 Open but instead of the normal offering of an extended swim platform, the entire transom, which Scarab® calls a tailgate, folds down to create an extended platform and is covered with Marine Mat.

The helm features a standard high, curved, tinted, glass windshield plus large vertical safety grab handles on each side of the console. Tilt steering is standard as is a T-Top with bimini plus a topside-mounted wakeboard tow point. A regular stern ski-tow eye is also standard.

The two-toned dash features a central Scarab® custom gauge cluster with the expected standard tachometer, oil, temperature, and fuel gauges but also includes a GPS speedometer, hour meter, fuel consumption gauge, plus a Cruise Control Mode. A stereo is also standard as are dual USB outlets. The standard Rotax® iNR (Intelligent Neutral & Reverse) is a completely electronic control feature that “combines stationary neutral positioning, electronic shifting and BRP's patented lateral thrust control for confidence inspiring low speed handling.”

The 255 Open ID offers five standard hullside colours plus four optional Impulse colours plus your choice of a black or white deck colour plus five optional interior accenting colours. A Scarab® custom, painted, tandem axle trailer with chrome wheels is standard (and may be deleted entirely) as are pull-up mooring cleats, console mats, stainless steel drinkholders, and courtesy lights.

One of the most desirable available options could well be Scarab®’s Touch Screen Command Center which provides all appropriate and necessary engine operating information plus air and water temperature, a media board for your camera system, plus ski, cruising, cruise control, and docking profiles. You may also add a Surf Stream Wake Enhancement System, a depth sounder or a GPS plotter, and an upgraded steering wheel. Also choose wakeboard racks, underwater and/or docking lights, upgraded stereo, and trailer upgrades. Available option packages include some of the above.

The Scarab Open 255 ID – an exciting combination of space, flexibility, and style.
