Of the many and varied Sportsman models in the G3 lineup for 2019 from sixteen to twenty-four feet, only two, the 2400 and the 2100, subject of this review, are full walk-thru three-piece windshield dual console designs. Having these windshields make these two models functionally desirable and totally practical for the serious Canadian fisherman to better cope with the vagaries of our early spring and late fall temperature and weather.

And let there be no doubt, the 2100 Sportsman is designed and outfitted for the most serious big water and big multi-species catches. It rides on a welded .125 gauge all-aluminum “Deep-Vee” hull featuring a commendable 15-degree deadrise to help soften your ride in big water conditions. You may choose between Black Metallic or Burgundy urethane high-gloss paint with custom graphics on the exterior hull while the interior is well protected with a durable Tuff Cote™ spray-in liner.

And when G3 talks big catches, it means big. There are two aerated livewells on board the 2100 Sportsman. The bow livewell centered on the bow casting deck immediately ahead of the windshield is 26-inches by 20-inches with a capacity of 25 (US) gallons, while the stern livewell centered forward on the stern casting platform is simply massive measuring 16-inches by, get this, over five feet long at 62-inches and complete with divider and dual aerators and a capacity of 65 (US) gallons. This stern livewell is built to accommodate your dream catch.

And you say you want to get to your favourite fishing hole quickly? G3 accommodates that too with your choice of Yamaha outboard power from 115 to a maximum 200 horsepower. To maximize this power, you can optionally add a six-inch manual or hydraulic Jack Plate. To help handle that power, the Sportsman 2100 has hydraulic steering as standard equipment.

The driver’s console is functional and no-nonsense with a molded dash atop an aluminum base. Within this base is a large storage bin. A very sporty steering wheel faces the dash where four Faria gauges, two large and two small, provide essential readouts of speed, RPM, fuel, and trim. Two red warning lights will foretell of low oil or overheating.

Above and to the right of these gauges is a large flat surface on which to mount your choice of optional Lowrance® Hook² five through seven-inch COMBO GPS/fishfinder units or Lowrance® Elite 7Ti through 9Ti screens, or go for the ultimate, the Lowrance® HDS 7 or 9 Carbon units. The passenger console provides a lockable glovebox plus a drink holder.

Four high back, folding, padded bucket-like fishing seats are standard equipment to fill the four floor bases within the roomy cockpit. These seats can of course be moved to the bow or stern casting platform bases. Additional fishing seats are optionally available as are bike seats with an adjustable pedestal.

Along the interior port side of the cockpit and below the gunnel is a handy “Quick-Draw” horizontal rod storage system to accommodate up to four rods. The gunnel itself has a built-in rail system for quick attachments such as additional rod holders or downriggers. A large lockable storage compartment is found right up front within the bow casting platform.

A G3 custom, aluminum, tandem axle Trail Guard® bunk trailer with a locking detachable tongue is standard equipment for your Sportsman 2100 as is an onboard 3-bank battery charger and an automatic bilge pump. Trailer upgrades are optionally available. Other notable optional equipment includes eight or ten foot blade post Power Poles® for shallow water anchoring, and a Minn Kota® 24 or 36-volt bow trolling motor.

The Sportsman 2100 is a dedicated and serious fishing machine for the dedicated and serious fisherman out to catch the biggest of the big multi-species big ones.
