Boat Review by: Richard Crowder
Lund continues to add to and to tweak its vast offerings of aluminum fishing and pontoon boats and 2019 is no exception. It has three major categories of aluminum fishing boats: Core Fishing, Fish and Sport, and Utility and Hunting.
The Adventure series of five models in two sizes is brand new for 2019 and forms part of the thirteen model series in the Fish and Sport category consisting of dozens of individual models and layouts, each aimed at satisfying the growing demand of ardent fishermen plus family recreational fun all very successfully wrapped up in one boat.
There are three layouts of the 1675 Adventure: a dual console, side console, and open plan utilizing a trolling motor while the 1775, exactly one foot longer than the 1675 on the same 87-inch beam offers two layouts: the SS side console layout, and the Sport dual console layout with a full windshield with centre walk-through, the subject of this review and probably destined to be a better seller in our more northern Canadian climates due to its ability to have canvas weather protection while underway.
The Adventure 1775 SS side console and the Sport dual console are very similar in specifications, standard equipment, and available options with two major exceptions. The SS side console layout does offer an optional stand-alone passenger side console but of course full canvas weather protection while underway is not available, except for a bimini top. The Sport dual console with full windshield offers a choice of a bimini top or a complete enclosed sport top set with a walkway curtain and a top storage hider under the rear jump seats. Both models offer an optional travel cover.
The other major exception in the two floor plans is recommended maximum available horsepower. Both layouts recommend a minimum horsepower of 60 to give a 32 MPH top speed while maximum recommended horsepower for the SS is 90 providing a top speed of 42 MPH and for this Sport layout, a maximum recommended horsepower of 115 providing a top speed of 46 MPH. The Lund factory will pre-rig with either Mercury or Honda or will supply “blank” boats with no power thus allowing you to work with your favourite dealer to supply your favourite brand of power.
Ash Grey vinyl and carpet covers the interior floor and deck surfaces respectively in the Adventure 1775 Sport while you can choose from four exterior freeboard colours or an all graphite metallic boat. Two standard bucket-style seats are provided standard, one fixed for the driver and one removable, six seat bases, plus two flip-up stern jump seats which when folded, become an aft casting platform. Several optional seats are available.
There are two huge forward in-floor storage compartments within the bow casting platform, a centre lockable rod storage compartment with ten tubes up to seven feet, five inches in length, bulkhead plus port and starboard storage compartments plus more under the rear jump seats, one of which is dedicated for batteries. Also centred back there is a standard 37-inch, 23-gallon aerated livewell plus a standard four-step, telescoping boarding ladder to starboard on the composite transom.
The attractively molded driver’s helm provides a large tachometer, speedometer, and smaller fuel gauge plus a large flat surface on which to mount umpteen choices of optional Humminbird or Lowrance GPS/fish finders. There are also bow mount electronics available along with several choices of Minnkota or Motor Guide bow trolling motors with harness and plug provided standard. Two and three-bank battery chargers are optionally available as is a Kicker KMC1 stereo with two speakers. The molded passenger console contains a large lockable glove box.
A Shoreland’r bunk trailer with swing tongue and tongue jack is standard equipment with the 1775 Adventure Sport while notable optional equipment includes a waterski pylon, bow seating cushions with integrated backrests, a livewell divider, a soft-side cooler, stainless steel propeller, tilt steering plus driver’s seat slider, and painted or galvanized, bunk or roller trailer upgrades are available.
As you can see, this new Lund Adventure series ticks a lot of the right boxes of functionality and versatility for both the fisherman and the recreational boater.
