Starcraft refers to its 166 Stealth as “incredible value.” The 166 is the only model in the Stealth series but it comes in three configurations: Tiller, SC (Side or Single Console with windscreen), and DC (Dual Console with full walk-thru windshield).

Starcraft is a huge manufacturer of both fibreglass and aluminum boats in seven major categories: Jon boats, Utility, Pontoon, Runabouts, Deck Boats, Surf boats, and Fishing boats. For 2020 it offers seven series of aluminum fishing boats comprising twenty-one models from sixteen to twenty-one feet.

All three configurations of the 166 Stealth are virtually identical in floorplan, with the obvious exception being the addition of one or two consoles, windshield(s), and the location of the forward pair of cockpit seat bases. Aside from instrumentation and DC switching being mounted on the starboard side of the stern casting platform on the Tiller model, all else is identical. Both the SC and DC are rated for a maximum 90 horsepower outboard while the Tiller is rated for maximum 60 horsepower.

At just under sixteen feet overall length on a seven foot, one inch beam and weighing in at just under one thousand pounds, it provides a commendable twenty-one inches of interior cockpit depth; a sufficient depth to allow you to brace your knee against the inner gunwale while fighting to land that big one.

All three configurations come with seven floor-mounted seat bases: one centered on the bow casting platform, four in the cockpit, and two on the stern casting platform, one each side of the center storage compartment, which is reserved to house the standard 12-gallon portable fuel tank. Two contoured fishing seats on pedestals are standard with additional seats and sliders optionally available.

Virtually no onboard space on the 166 Stealth is left unutilized. A centre cockpit in-floor large lockable rod storage locker is matched by a second rod storage locker along almost the entire length of the inner portside cockpit wall. A general storage locker fills the inner cockpit wall on the starboard side.

A 25-gallon aerated livewell with separator and integral bait pail is within the raised bow casting platform, along with another large general in-floor storage compartment. Right at the bow, a storage pouch is conveniently provided for the foot control of a trolling motor should you choose to optionally install one. All flooring surfaces in the 166 Stealth, including the cockpit and both casting platforms, are vinyl covered for easy cleaning with snap-in carpet optionally available.

The tiller model does not have a driver’s console and as mentioned above; its engine instrumentation is mounted on the starboard side of the stern casting platform. The SC and DC models share an effective and efficient driver’s console complete with large speedometer and tachometer gauges plus the normal small diameter volt meter.

Room in the dash is available for an optional digital depth finder. A 12-volt DC power plug is standard. There is a surface area on the upper right hand side of the dash suitable for mounting your choice of GPS / Fishfinder screen. A plexi windscreen is supplied with the SC console, and a walk-thru full-width windshield with rounded corners comes with the Dual Console configuration. The molded passenger console on the DC comes complete with a glove box.

There are two options packages available. The Power Package provides a Humminbird Piranha Max4 fishfinder as well as a 45 PD trolling motor with Quick Disconnect. The All Weather Package provides a mooring cover, snap-in carpet, and if you choose the DC configuration, a bimini top with visor. All three floorplan configurations come with standard twice baked urethane paint in your choice of red or blue.

Individual additional options for all three configurations of the 166 Stealth include a sonar unit, a PRV 19 Millenia AM/FM Bluetooth compatible stereo, 12/24 Volt trolling motor, stainless steel 3-step boarding ladder, battery charger, snap-on cover, trailable ratchet cover, and a fuel/water separating filter. Extreme steering and a stern flip-down bench seat are available for the SC and DC models, while a fisherman’s top with or without a full enclosure and bow cover is available for the Dual Console configuration.

The Starcraft 166 Stealth packs a lot of the most desirable fishing amenities in a small package giving reason to the company’s claim of “incredible value.”
