starcraft SVX 231

The SVX 231 Deckboat is one large, deep, wide, sporty, and family-friendly deckboat rated for up to a 300-horsepower outboard and a carrying capacity rating of fourteen persons – yes, fourteen!

It is a full eight and one-half feet wide and with an inside depth of over three feet with bow to stern surround seating. Starcraft has packed lots of amenities into this new SVX deckboat series, which consists of seven floorplans in four hull lengths; seventeen, nineteen, twenty-oner, and this twenty-three footer.

The twenty-three foot model has two floorplans; the regular layout with an L-shaped bench seating/lounge extending across the stern the way to the portside passenger helm, and this DH configuration, standing for Dual Helm seats, with the portside lounge shortened to allow for a second swivel bucket seat with forward flip-up bolster identical to the driver’s seat. The OB in the boat’s name of course refers to only outboard power being available in the SVX series.

There are both bow and stern swim platforms, both of which are large with flip-down four-step, telescoping boarding ladders with hinged lids, and both of which are covered with standard EvA Soft Touch traction matting. A wet storage compartment is built into the portside stern platform, while the bow boarding ladder compartment doubles as an anchor locker.

The centre bow removable seat cushion provides a convenient step-up to the bow platform and a built-in cooler is housed within the seat base. Wrap-around bow seating is deep and wide and the surrounding back bolsters are full height for increased comfort and support. Full-height back bolsters on the front faces of both consoles accommodate forward-facing stretch out lounging. Storage is provided beneath both port and starboard bench seats. Optional bow filler cushions are available as is a table.

Moving aft, a cockpit in-floor storage compartment located between the two helm consoles is ideal for large items such as wakeboards, skis, etc. The passenger console is in essence a molded storage compartment with a molded-in sink with cover along with three drinkholders. A pressurized cold water system with tap is optionally available.

On the starboard side ahead of the driver’s console is a molded-in head compartment with hinged flip-up top surface for ease of entry. The compartment may be used for changing and may be optionally fitted with a privacy curtain and porta-potti. The driver’s console is fitted with a low, tinted plexiglass windscreen and a modern-looking two-toned ergonomically-friendly instrument layout and with a soft-grip tilting steering wheel with standard Sea Star hydraulic steering.

Centred in the dash are two large-diameter dual-function gauges: tachometer with smaller fuel gauge to the left and speedometer with smaller voltmeter to the right. Immediately below are three knockout faceplates to allow easy installation of smaller gauges such as the optionally available trim gauge or digital depth finder.

To the right of these instruments is the control panel for the standard Bluetooth-equipped Jensen AM/FM stereo complete with four cockpit speakers. This may be optionally upgraded to a JL MM50 stereo with Bluetooth capability. A pair of rear-facing transom speakers and a Humminbird Helix 5 in-dash GPS are also available.

Behind the stern portion of the L-shaped interior lounge with storage provided beneath all seat cushions is a comfortable aft-facing transom bench seat. Access from the cockpit to this aft seat and the swim platform is via a starboard side transom walk-thru. You may want to add a removable ski pole or a full ski tow pylon or perhaps even a wake tower. A bimini top is standard.

Notable additional optional equipment includes snap-in cockpit carpet or snap-in EvA Soft Touch cockpit traction matting, snap-on cockpit cover, docking lights, or an RGB colour-changing LED lighting kit for the cupholders, speakers, courtesy and underwater lights. A dual-battery system would be highly recommended as would be the anchor kit. A Fishing package with two fishing seats, bow and stern livewells, trolling motor plug, and rod storage clips is available as is a trolling motor with quick release.

Standard interior upholstery trim is in your choice of Tan or Gray and nine standard hullside graphic stripe colours are available along with optional exterior striping additions plus interior secondary upholstery trim striping additions. A Sport Package with Sport Interior and Exterior Sport Gel Scheme is also available. You may want to choose a stainless steel rub rail insert in place of the standard white or black vinyl insert.

Leave it basic or equip it with every possible option, but however you do it the Starcraft SVX 231 OB DH will provide constant enjoyment for everyone on board.
