Boat Review by: Richard Crowder
Starcraft’s new 19’ deck boat, the 1915 Limited outboard, is one of 16 models in its deck boat series and, like many of those models, a side console design. This means that there is no passenger console and therefore the capability to create full surround seating throughout the boat.
Starcraft takes advantage of this openness with a pair of facing bow lounges, with the port side lounge stretching aft and terminating in a back support opposite the driver’s seat, which allows forward-facing stretch-out lounging. Aft of this lounge is the walk-thru transom to the port side swim platform section with its recessed three-step folding, telescoping boarding ladder. Across the stern is a three-seater couch. With its full 8’6” beam, the 1915 Limited OB is rated to hold up to 10 persons.
A well-padded backrest on the forward face of the driver’s console promotes forward facing stretch-out lounging on the starboard side bow lounge. Between the bow lounges is step-up access to the foredeck swim platform, which houses a second, but this time a four-step, telescoping boarding ladder stored within an anchor locker. A cutaway in the topside molding at the bow makes access to the bow platform easier. A similar cutaway midship on the port side topsides aides access to and from the boat while at a dock.
The upholstery, including the surrounding backrests throughout the 1915 Limited OB, is well padded, contoured for added support and comfort, and available in three standard colour combinations. Storage is provided by way of an in-floor compartment next to the helm console, within the helm console itself, and within the starboard side swim platform section. An open section beneath the port side lounge is dedicated for the storage of a portable cooler.
A high-back comfy looking adjustable helm bucket seat faces a sporty-looking soft rimmed tilting steering wheel ahead of the dash console with its molded-in footrest. A black molded section ahead of the steering wheel contains a large chrome-rimmed speedometer flanked by a slightly smaller tachometer on its left, and a similar-sized multi-function voltmeter and fuel gauge on its right hand side.
Immediately below these three gauges are mounting spaces for two smaller gauges such as the available digital depth sounder. On a lower vertical face to the left of the steering wheel is the control head for the standard Bluetooth compatible AM/FM stereo with auxiliary port. A 12-volt power outlet is also provided.
A removable windscreen provides protection for the driver while a pair of drinkholders on the upper flat surface are handy for both the driver and passenger in the starboard side bow lounge. On the forward portion of the dash console, between the windscreen and the bow lounge, is a molded in sink complete with manual pump faucet.
Additional notable standard equipment includes a removable bow table, bimini top with storage boot, courtesy lighting, and most commendably is the inclusion of docking lights as standard equipment. There are lots of available optional upgrades available to allow you to personalize your 1915 Limited OB precisely as you would want it.
Choose from an in-dash GPS screen, flush-mount dual battery switch, and full canvas enclosure. You might want to add to that a cockpit cover or even a drop-down curtain with porta-potti. This arrangement also serves as a handy on-board change room. You might want the wake tower to which you could then add a bimini, tower speakers, board racks, and a mirror bracket.
Other very desirable upgrades include snap-in Sea Weave or snap-in Eva Soft Touch Traction Mat flooring, LED colour changing for the speakers, cupholders, underwater lighting, and a stereo remote at the transom. A flip-up forward bolster would greatly enhance the driver’s bucket while a bow filler cushion would create a great sunpad up front. Why not choose a bow and/or transom pressurized shower.
An Infinity PRV350 Satellite radio is available as is a ski tow pylon, stainless steel rub rail, an anchor kit, or even a plumbed livewell whether you enjoy fishing or a great place to keep refreshments cool. You will also need to choose from 11 choices of colour for the Topstripe, which is immediately above the rub rail, and again for the Mainstripe which encompasses the hull sides, and again for the Hullstripe which is essentially the bottom of the hull.
Starcraft has conveniently grouped some of the options into handy packages. The SX Package includes the LED colour changing feature for the speakers, a stainless steel rub rail, and the flip-up bolster for the driver’s bucket. The Tow Package includes the wake tower and board racks. A Tow, Stereo, and Speaker Package includes the wake tower with bimini and board racks plus an upgraded Kicker Sirius-ready stereo with Kicker boat and tower speakers, a Kicker amplifier and subwoofer.
A Fishing Package adds two bow fishing seats, bow livewell, stern rod box, and a trolling motor plug and outlet to which you can then add a 70PD 60” shaft trolling motor. To accommodate this Fishing Package, you may then want to choose the identically laid out and equipped Limited 2000 OB which is one and a half feet longer and is rated to accommodate 12 persons while retaining the maximum horsepower rating of 200.
However you choose to outfit your Starcraft 1915 Limited OB, it will stand out from all the others and you will enjoy years of unique satisfaction and enjoyment to be shared with a few or many or none at all as you see fit.
