The PowerBoat Guide had this to say:
The Cruisers 280 Express (called the 2870 Express in 1998 to 2003) is a modern mid-cabin design whose appealing lines and practical layout made her a popular model for Cruisers during her production years. A fairly heavy boat at 10,000 pounds, she?s built on a stable modified-V hull with a wide beam and moderate transom dead-rise. Like most mid-cabin boats her size, the floor-plan of the 280 is very open and airy with curtains (rather than bulk- heads) separating the fore and aft sleeping areas from the main salon. The dinette converts into a double berth suitable for kids, and while the galley is small, it?s nonetheless suitable for basic food-prep activities. The topside layout incorporates a double-wide helm seat, fore- and aft-facing cockpit settees, and a walk-through windshield with molded-in steps for easy foredeck access. Space at the helm for electronic add-ons is limited. Additional features include a removable cockpit table, sport arch, transom door and swim platform.

A nimble, responsive performer, the Cruisers 2870 Express offers excellent handling and sleek, contemporary styling. At the same time, it provides impressive comfort belowdecks for boaters embarking on a weekend cruise or on a cozy overnight escape. The 2870's on-deck layout includes a double-wide helm seat, fore- and aft-facing cockpit settees, and a walk-through windshield with molded-in steps for easy foredeck access. To keep onboard guests comfortable and out of the elements, the 2870 features an attractive, custom-fit full enclosure. Her helm station includes easy-to-read instrumentation, room for navigational equipment, and excellent visibility. The wide-open interior includes a well-appointed galley with a refrigerator and an electric stove; a crescent-shaped convertible dinette - double berth; and a generous double berth forward with a privacy curtain. There's also a place for the optional TV and VCR. The 2870 can comfortably accommodate overnight guests or additional family members with a fixed double berth, located with a privacy curtain aft to port of the companionway. The 2870's large head features full standing headroom and a shower.
