Description
Two Staterooms* Hardtop Bridge and Aft Deck * Diesel Powered
Gulfstar Yachts was a large manufacturer of fiberglass sailboats and powerboats based in the Tampa Bay, Florida area from 1970 until 1990 when Viking Yachts purchased the company's assets. They produced both power from 36 to 72 feet and sailboats from 36 to 63 feet. The 1975 Gulfstar 36 Mk 2 Trawler (GS36TRW) shared the same hull as the 36 sailboat (MS36), which simplified production.
The Mk II trawler offers fore and aft staterooms, two heads, and a main salon with lower helm and stepped-down galley and dinette. A flybridge and aft deck, both with hardtops, provide space for passengers and crew while underway. Safe, wide side decks lead forward from the aft deck for line and anchor handling. A pair of normally aspirated 4-cylinder Perkins provides reliable, economical power.
"Madrigal" has been well kept over the years and interior finishes remain in very good condition throughout. Exterior trim and fiberglass surfaces show normal wear for a boat of this vintage, and can easily be restored to like-new condition if desired. there is no generator, however, large solar panels atop the aft deck keep the deep-cycle battery banks topped up while away from the dock, and provide quiet, generator-free operation while cruising or anchoring.
If you are searching for a solid, proven platform for long-range cruising, a great weekender, or an economical summer live-aboard, Madrigal is well worth a serious look!
