Description

Amazing Storeys is a modified Kirby 30 sailboat launched in the spring of 1984, after production of this model had ended the year before.  Although listed as hull 88 it was in fact a one off designed to exacting specifications from an experienced MORC sailor and differs considerably from a standard Kirby.  The mast is 18” taller and set back from the bow about 2 ft. further than the normal Kirby. The result a significantly larger fore triangle and overall sail area.  It is 29’10” overall,  27 ft. at the waterline and an 8 ft. beam.  It has (2) 4” dia. aluminum tubes running from the stern to the bow giving it substantial additional structural strength and permitting exceptional tension on the running back stays without any deflection of the hull.  The present sail inventory is overwhelmingly Doyle Boston with a couple of Ulmer Kolius.  The boat has been used primarily for racing with lots of day sailing and the occasional overnighter.
