1989 MIRAGE 39 “Equilibrium”
PRICE REDUCED! $65000
OVERVIEW
The Mirage 39 is the flagship of the company and not only designed to compete with the fastest boats in her vintage and class in Regattas, but to excel in style, comfort, and all aspects of the cruising lifestyle.
The company accepted designs from several prominent designers including in this case the prolific French Naval Architect Philippe Harle and Architect H Morton.
As an aside, many sailors start out dingy sailing or in the near 20’ range, move up to a low to mid 30’ foot range and then come to the market for their “last” boat…. Some call this process of moving up a few feet at a time “two foot-itus”and it happens because people are afraid they cannot handle a larger vessel. In most cases this is simply untrue. A larger boat can often be safer and easier to handle as it is inherently more stable and less likely to be affected by waves during maneuvering.
If you’ve had experience in even one boat prior to considering this one, we recommend her because avoiding “two foot-itus “will both save you multiple buy and sell transaction costs, and you will grow into the larger boat in a single season of regular use.
On the other hand, if you are already seasoned, and looking for that final larger dream boat to cruise the lakes or to take you to the Caribbean; you are looking at a Gem of a boat with this Mirage 39 as she has zero characteristics of a more tender and “cosier” smaller boat.
With her design and at 16,500lbs she is fast, yet feels solid like a bullet train on a monorail!
Her beam makes her spacious and comfortable both at anchor and while underway. You will never feel cramped in this boat; ever.
The saloon has tons of storage, seating, and port side can be made into a bed near queen sized (curl up and enjoy Netflix on the smart TV)
The U-shaped galley is ideal; both at anchor and while underway, keeping all amenities nearby while allowing for safe body positioning.
A unique benefit to her galley is the vast amount of storage; as the bin/ice box cold plate refrigeration is now added storage because a large, front door opening separate fridge and freezer have been installed!
The forward private “V-berth” is very comfortable, roomy, has tons of storage and its own sink. The master aft cabin state room is also wonderfully comfortable and roomy for two! It is beautifully designed with ship systems close at hand.
The head is easy to access and clean, well lit, functional and very well laid out; these design features are repeated throughout this mini ship!
For example, the cockpit is roomy, very comfortable and efficiently functional for sailing in all conditions! The storage Lazarette is enormous (...at 6’2” I sit comfortably inside of it). The side decks are wide and uncluttered and anchoring is a dream with the best of anchoring hardware and controls both forward and at the helm.
What a joy to board from the “sugar scoop” transom, or dive off the stern!
The sail plan is easy, she steers effortlessly, she is fast and takes heavy weather with ease!
This Mirage 39 is ready to go, it easily sailed across Lake Superior and back in 2025 with 2 onboard and was effortlessly solo sailed from the North Channel of Georgan Bay to Windor following the Superior trip; you need only personalize her, provision, launch and go! She can also easily be trucked or I can deliver her to you via waterways to anywhere. The listed price is negotiable.
