The 2009 Beneteau Oceanis 31 (marketed in the US simply as the Beneteau 31) was manufactured by Beneteau Group, a historic French shipyard widely recognized as the world's largest sailboat producer. Designed by the naval architecture firm Finot-Conq, with interior styling by Nauta Design, the yacht was engineered to serve as an accessible, high-volume pocket cruiser capable of comfortable coastal passages Beneteau constructed the hull using a solid, hand-laid glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) matrix bonded to an internal structural grid to optimize load distribution and durability while managing overall weight. The model was highly successful in the entry-level cruiser market, winning the prestigious European Yacht of the Year award in 2009 for its efficient layout, structural rigidity, and ease of handling for short-handed crews.
