Good bones and a comfortable and spacious interior, Aviator would make a great first boat.

Aviator may not win any race trophies, but she comes first for value for money. She is solid, dry inside (this broker having had to shelter from a classic PNW rainstorm inside!) and has an exceptionally roomy interior, including a huge aft cabin.

The interior is cozy, warm and inviting, with plenty of space for weekends aboard or longer coastal cruising.

Has a 2024 survey that rates her as ‘very good’ (available to view).

Her diesel engine is reliable once started and has been getting her owner where she needs to go. The furling system operates well, and the mainsail is in serviceable condition. The genoa is showing its age and has a small tear, and a future owner should plan on replacing or repairing some of the running rigging.

Cosmetically, the exterior could use some love. One starboard-side window requires replacement or rebedding. She would suit someone who is comfortable taking on some straightforward projects and wants a boat they can improve over time rather than paying a premium for someone else’s upgrades.

A major recent investment is her fresh antifouling, applied September 2026 and guaranteed for three years, meaning the bottom should not require repainting until approximately September 2029. She also has a brand newly-installed stuffing box, giving her new owner peace of mind for years to come.

For someone looking to get into sailing and boat ownership without spending a fortune, this Hunter 30 represents an appealing opportunity: a solid, comfortable cruiser with plenty of potential to make her your own.
