Boat Review by: Richard Crowder
The 1775 is the middle of three sizes of Impact models in Lund’s thirteen model series within its Core Fishing category of hardcore aluminum fishing boats. All three Impact models are available in either a side console (SS) configuration or a dual console with full walk-through windshield configuration (Sport). Both of these configurations in the Impact series are outfitted for very serious fishing but perhaps the SS side console configuration, subject of this review, is intended and preferred by the even more serious and dedicated fisherman.
The 1775 Impact SS Side Console absolutely bristles with hardcore fishing amenities as standard equipment with an extensive list of available options to personalize it for the type of water or type of fishing you intend. Only one inch short of eighteen feet in overall length on a wide full eight foot beam and with a bow depth over forty-two inches and a cockpit depth of exactly two feet, this boat is designed to take big water.
It is also designed to get to your favourite fishing grounds quickly and smoothly given the recommended horsepower rating of up to 115 which gives it a top speed of 46 MPH. Both Honda and Mercury outboards are available pre-rigged from the factory or you can buy it blank with no motor and have your favourite dealer install your favourite brand for you. The smooth ride comes from Lund’s Integrated Power Strake (IPS) “deep-vee” hull design with double bottom plating from the bow back to mid-ship.
The custom molded side console with windscreen is modern looking, attractive, and functional with larger speedometer and tachometer flanking a smaller fuel gauge with lots of space available to mount your choice of a huge selection of optional Humminbird or Lowrance GPS/fish finder screens. Mercury SmartCraft™ and VesselView™ gauge upgrades as well as Mercury Active Trim are also available as is tilt steering.
Remote screens are also available for the pre-wired bow casting deck as well as another huge selection of optional bow-mounted trolling motors from Minnkota and Motor Guide. A selection of kicker motors from Mercury or Honda are available for bow or transom mounting. Lots and lots of decisions to be made all in the interest of maximizing your fishing enjoyment.
Two bucket-style seats are standard equipment; the driver’s with a fixed pedestal and the passenger’s with a movable pedestal. Six seat bases are provided and again a wide selection of optional seats and pedestals are available including ProRide seats and AirRide pedestals. Aft flip-up jump seats are available to add to the standard aft casting platform. A slider is available for the driver’s seat.
Storage compartments fill almost all available space on the 1775 Impact including within almost the entire bow casting deck, within the helm console, in the step-up ahead of the passenger seat, within both port and starboard gunnels and within the rear casting deck which also includes dedicated battery storage with three holders. The lockable center rod storage locker has ten tubes to fit poles up to seven and a half feet.
The port side under-gunnel rod storage compartment is also lockable. Lund’s Dual Track Gunnels (DTG) allow you to add a selection of handy and useful fishing aids such as tool and rod holders using Lund’s available Sport Trak bracket. Both an aft and a bow aerated livewell with auto-timer are standard, the aft being 37-inches long holding 16 (US) gallons and the bow being 27-inches long holding 11 (US) gallons.
Five hull colour choices are available with or without available graphics packages. You can choose the standard vinyl main floor covering with carpeting on the bow and aft casting platforms plus all vertical interior surfaces or go for full vinyl or full carpeting at no extra charge. Other standard equipment includes stainless steel fold-down cleats, LED interior courtesy lighting, a four-step telescoping boarding ladder, level foam flotation, and a Shoreland’r bunk trailer with swing tongue and tongue jack.
There are a host of additional available options not mentioned above from which to choose. Significant ones include a bimini top, travel cover, onboard two or three bank battery charger, a Kicker KMC1 stereo with two speakers, or go for the Comfort Package which gives you tilt steering, the stereo, plus AirRide seats. You may also choose an automatic bilge pump (instead of the standard manual pump), bait bucket with pail, deck mounted bow bait station, livewell divider, bow cargo nets, soft-side cooler, snap-in carpet or Marine Mat, stainless steel propeller, hydraulic steering, plus several trailer upgrades.
As you can see, this Lund 1775 Impact SS side console is loaded with all of the standard and available fishing features needed to satisfy the most demanding of fishing aficionado’s.
