Boat Review by: Richard Crowder
Barletta is a relatively new builder of pontoon boats with fresh ideas like providing a larger complement of standard equipment that most customers would normally want coupled with options to satisfy any buyer. Even though Barletta may be somewhat new, its ownership brings decades of experience to its manufacturing facility in Indiana in the heart of mid-west America’s RV, pontoon, and aluminum boat industry.
Barletta offers four categories of pontoon boats from twenty to twenty-five feet: three models with nine floorplans in its Luxury L-Class; three models with eleven floorplans in its Sporty Corsa Class; four models with fourteen floorplans in its Value C-Class, plus its unique twenty-three- foot Slide-Toon® which can expand its beam from eight-foot, six-inches to an amazing fourteen-feet, ten-inches!
The C24UE is a twenty-four-foot Ultra-Entertainer (UE) C-Class model with a floorplan uniquely focused specifically on entertaining, lounging, and cruising. The standard flexible seating and lounging and table options offer multiple ways to relax and entertain up to eleven persons with the standard two-pontoon version, or thirteen persons with the optional tri-toon version.
Up front is a pair of comfy contoured two person lounges with padded backrests and flip-down armrests that encourage front facing lounge. The port side lounge headrest is storage for the standard stow-away lounge table. This headrest becomes the home of the optionally available flip-up changeroom, in which case the standard table may be replaced with an optional pedestal table.
Aft of the centre port side entry gate is a two-person forward-facing bench seat opposite the captain’s helm chair. The backrest on the bench seat pivots to allow aft-facing seating towards a four-person dinette table. On the aft side is a pair of well-upholstered low-back swivel bar-type stools. On the starboard side aft of the driver’s helm is a storage cabinet with food-prep top surface and a large two or three-person full reclining lounge with pivoting backrests.
The driver gets to enjoy a midback, fully adjustable and reclining helm chair and a tilting sporty soft grip steering wheel with mechanical steering. A low-profile molded helm console features a dash with padded eyebrow and a pair of multi-function large diameter gauges immediately in front of the steering wheel with a dedicated area to the right for the standard flush-mount Humminbird Hook 4 Fish finder. This may be optionally upgraded with a Hook 5 GPS / fish / depth finder or a Simrad 7-inch GO7 XSE chartplotter / multi-function display.
On the dash is the control unit for the standard Hertz AM/FM Bluetooth® compatible stereo with six speakers. An integrated cellphone holder is provided complete with charging station and auxiliary input. Other USB charging ports are provided on the C24UE as well as plenty of “Yeti-Ready” cupholders. The helm console also features a unique integrated pullout pet food/water dish drawer! This drawer may of course be used for knick-knack storage if you don’t happen to have a pet on board.
Standard floor covering throughout is full woven marine flooring. Additional standard equipment includes LED docking lights, flip-up cleats, and a four-step telescoping flip-down stainless steel boarding ladder with easy to use high handhold grabrails. A rare standard option is a power bimini top with boot and bimini dome light, front bimini top struts, not straps, and a snapless playpen cover. Three choices of panel colours are offered.
A Tri-Toon Package is optionally available which increases the standard partial underbelly skin to a full skin, provides full inside and outside lifting strakes, hydraulic steering, and a ski tow bar as well as increasing the gas tank size and the horsepower rating from 150 to 250 of the brand of your choice. A Blackout Package provides an almost complete “black” look including rails, rubrail, skirting, shims, gate pockets, rail supports, and a black bimini.
An RGB Lighting Package includes cupholders and underseat mood lights. Other notable available options include a second powered bimini top, seat covers, underdeck and underwater lighting, stereo remote for the stern deck, a bow gate filler seat, and an ottoman with built-in cooler. For the standard two-tube boat, you may also add the full underbelly skin, full-length single stage lifting strakes, as well as the ski tow bar. If you go with the tri-toon, you may also add the most convenient in-floor storage.
The Barletta C24UE certainly has all the amenities allowing it to live up to its name as the Ultra-Entertainer.
