The all-new 2025 Fish model brings the Switch lineup of Sea-Doo pontoon boats to five. The new design comes in three variations in 18 and 21 feet. The 18-footer offers a choice of either a 170 or 230 horsepower engine, while the 21-footer offers only the 230 horsepower engine.

Sea-Doo’s Rotax 1630 ACE (Advanced Combustion Efficiency) engine in 170 or 230 horsepower supplies the power through a jet drive. This is a sophisticated power package utilizing iTC, or Intelligent Throttle Control, which is in essence a throttle-by-wire system that provides not only normal speed control but also four Driving Modes: Sport Mode, ECO Mode, Slow Mode, and Cruise Control.

In addition, you get iBR (Intelligent Brake & Reverse), iDF (Intelligent Debris-Free Pump System), and a programmable RF D.E.S.S. (Radio Frequency Digitally Encoded Security System) key which communicates wirelessly with your specific boat, providing anti-theft reassurance and programmable driving criteria if so desired.

This is not just an ordinary pontoon boat but, like all other Switch models, each has three pontoons which Sea-Doo calls a Tri-Hull with the centre V-bottom-shaped “pontoon” or “hull” slightly lower in the water than the outer “hulls.” This design aids in maneuverability and handling. Construction, like that of Sea-Doo’s PWC lineup is of Polytec, a special plastic composed of long-strand glass fibers and polypropylene that is lighter and more scratch resistant than fiberglass, among other advantages.

When you go ahead to build a Switch Fish to your liking, Sea-Doo very early on asks you to select your colour choice, but you really don’t have a colour choice. Sea-Doo ticks off the box for you selecting Wilderness Green as your choice – the only one colour choice available! A most appropriate accenting colour though on a fishing purposeful pontoon. Most of the boat however is dark gray in colour. Sea-Doo includes a list of standard equipment that is also very fishing-focused.

All three Switch Fish model iterations include the following standard features: an opening door in each of the boat’s four corners for easy water access, two high-back height-adjustable multi-position fishing pedestal seats, Quick-Access lockable storage for four rods, LinQ Lite rail rod holders, and a Quick-Attach 18 gallon (68 L) cooler/livewell. This livewell for your bait or your catch (or as a cooler for your beverages) comes with an integrated pump and optionally available timer.

Also standard across all models is a Trolling Package that consists of a Garmin Force Kraken 24-volt, 80-pound thrust trolling motor with autopilot control and dual scanning sonars, plus two 7” Garmin GPS/Fish Finder screens – one for the helm connected to the in-hull transducer, and one for the bow connected to the trolling motor transducer. These screens can be stand-alone or interconnected with split screens and can also be used to control the boat’s engine.

In order to cover as much standard and as much optional equipment as possible, let’s concentrate on the biggest model – the 21-footer – which comes with the 230 horsepower engine. If you have a greater interest in the 18-footer with either the 170 or 230 horsepower engine, not all of the following standard or optional equipment is appropriate or available.

The helm console of the Switch Fish, like all of the other Switch models and of course like all Sea-Doo personal watercraft, features steering and throttle control via a Quick-Adjust handlebar as opposed to a steering wheel. Flush-mounted within the console ahead of the driver is a 4.5” digital screen with a speedometer, clock, instant and average fuel consumption readout, plus fuel autonomy distance and time remaining before the fuel tank is empty. Also in the console is a 12-volt power outlet, DC control switches, a glove box with dual USB ports, a storage net, and control for the BRP 100-Watt, Bluetooth integrated audio system. The driver’s seat has a forward bolster.

Opposite the helm on the port side is a comfortable three or maybe four person lounge seat. Another slightly shorter lounge seat is centred along the stern rail. Storage is found beneath the lounge seat cushions. Clear-view side panels surround the entire boat. A full-width carpeted swim platform with retractable boarding ladder and LinQ attachment points graces the stern and is most serviceable for both fishing and cruising pursuits. A ski-tow eye is also provided. As with all Switch models, the three Fish iterations offer Sea-Doo’s innovative modular deck tile system which allows you to easily and quickly transform the deck layout.

Additional standard equipment for the 21-footer includes full deck matting, LED courtesy and navigation lighting, dome and cargo lights, a washdown and spray nozzle, four corner tables plus one adjustable portable table, an underdeck lockable storage compartment and integrated anchor storage, integrated trolling motor storage, dual batteries, a 650-Watt battery generator, and a bimini top. A painted trailer is also standard equipment with a galvanized trailer being optionally available.

Sea-Doo offers dozens of neat items to accessorize your Switch. Some of course are legal on-board necessities like PFD’s, but there are several interesting accessories that will enhance your on-water experience. Choose a full mooring cover, a full camper enclosure, a double bimini top, cover sleeves for the bimini tops, a front trailering cover, any number of additional Quick-Attach single upholstered seats, unique LinQ Lite stemware holders and cup holders.

Choose a rearview mirror, Quick-Attach inflatable and/or wakeboard holder, various cooler and/or storage bags, a console wind deflector, several sizes of modular cargo boxes, and front docking lights. You may also want to stock various maintenance items such as a spare jet drive impeller and engine lubricants and care products, a varied selection and choice of PFD’s, plus a huge selection of LinQ accessories.

The Sea-Doo Switch Fish pontoon adds a whole new dimension of choice and versatility for pontoon boat buyers.
