Boat Review by: Richard Crowder
The Crestliner 2250 Authority is the larger of two Authority models which form part of the six model Big Water sub-series of the nineteen model MultiSpecies series, one of six series comprising a staggering sixty-seven models of aluminum fishing boats from sixteen to twenty-four feet. No matter your fishing priorities, Crestliner surely has a boat exactly right for you.
At almost twenty-three feet on a full eight-foot, six-inch beam, the 2250 Authority is designed and destined for big water fishing with a maximum hull depth of almost fifty inches and cockpit depth of over thirty inches. It rides on Crestliner’s 17-degree deadrise Deep-V all-welded hull with maximum horsepower rating of 350 to get you out and back in a hurry. This is a big boat for big water and big fish.
The 2250 Authority is a dual console with a high, center walk-thru, three-piece wrap-around style curved protective windshield and comes standard with four high-back bucket-style swivel Pro fishing pedestal seats. The helm seat has a slider. There are four in-floor pedestal mounts in the cockpit and one centered within the raised bow casting deck.
Within this bow casting deck are three in-floor storage compartments plus another small one with door within the raised bow trolling motor platform. Within the port side bow casting deck is a 15-gallon aerated livewell with timer. Centered on the transom is a second 20-gallon fully insulated aerated and timed livewell. More general storage compartments with doors are found beneath each console, two under the starboard side cockpit gunnel, and within both sides of the stern, plus another shelf under the port console, plus a stern portside cubby with netting.
On the port side of the cockpit is lockable dedicated rod storage with four tubes for rods up to nine feet. A centre in-floor lockable rod storage compartment has six tubes for up to eight foot rods. Trolling motor battery storage with 36-volt system capacity is found under both consoles. The passenger port side console has a lockable glove box, two drinkholders, a throw tray, and grab handle.
The attractive and functional driver’s molded helm console features two large diameter gauges for speedometer and tachometer and two smaller gauges for trim and fuel. A polished aluminum tilt steering wheel with “comfort grip” is standard as is hydraulic steering. Also standard is a Boss AM/FM Bluetooth compatible stereo with MP3 and USB ports plus two Jensen speakers. A 12-volt accessory outlet is at the helm along with a master power switch, two drinkholders, throw tray, and MP3 storage bin. LED courtesy lighting is standard.
A standard starboard side swim platform with ladder and grab handle is unique in that it and the steps to it are recessed into the transom. Other notable standard equipment includes a pair of SureMount gunnel accessory brackets, bow trolling motor pre-wired outlet, bow motor trim switch, flip-up mooring cleats, and vinyl flooring throughout with vinyl and carpet interior side walls. A ShoreArm’r bunk trailer is also standard.
You have eight standard choices of metallic baked Armor-Guard exterior paint combinations, all with Gray interior, plus two optional upgraded choices plus optional available graphics. There are several choices of Mercury FourStroke outboard power from 175 to 350 horsepower with most available with DTS (Digital Throttle and Shift).
There is a most extensive list of optional equipment available for your 2250 Authority. Most notable of these include a full canvas enclosure package, Mercury digital gauges, Vessel View, Active Trim, Power Steering, and the highly recommended MOB+ (Man OverBoard) system. You may also want starboard and/or port windshield wipers and a Premium steering wheel.
Snap-in carpet is available as are seating upgrades including power pedestals, reclining seats, and a butt seat. One neat seating option is the pair of stern jump seats with fixed padded coaming pad backrests that double as thigh supports with the seat bottom cushions removed. There are all sorts of accessories available for the SureMount gunnel brackets to make your fishing day more enjoyable including downrigger brackets.
You may also want stern and/or bow battery chargers, a raw water washdown system, various choices and sizes of Lowrance fishfinder screens, two choices of MinnKota trolling motors, a Mercury 9.9 Pro Kicker motor, and a 36-volt dc system upgrade. You may also want to upgrade to a Rockford premium stereo, add blue under gunnel LED lighting, convert one of the bow in-floor storage compartments to an insulated fishbox, add bow cargo netting, a stern 6-rod vertical holder, plus several trailer upgrades.
No matter how big your chosen water or how big your favourite species, Crestliner’s 2250 Authority is built and equipped to handle it with comfort, convenience, and ease.
